TARLAC CITY — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed the construction of a covered court inside Kalangitan National High School in Capas, Tarlac.
Implemented by Tarlac 2nd District Engineering Office, it was built using reinforced 100-millimeter slab on fill that includes an 18 by 30-meter court, a 66 square meter stage area with pre-painted roofing, and cladding sheets and metal structures for its columns and trusses.
District Engineer Hermon Ines said they want to provide public schools with facilities that will offer students a good learning environment and at the same time serve as a venue for various social activities of local residents.
“This covered court can host a multitude of programs and events such as school activities, sporting events, delivery of social services and other extra-curricular activities,” he furthered.
It can serve as an evacuation facility in times of disasters.
The project was implemented under DPWH’s Basic Infrastructure Program and funded under the 2022 General Appropriations Act.
