The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a P2.9-million covered court project at Barangay Pto. Rivas in Balanga City, Bataan.
The facility aims to improve community life and safety by providing a versatile space for both recreational and social gatherings.
DPWH Bataan 2nd District Engineer Ulysses Llado highlighted several key improvements, including a new covered court slab, fresh paint, full bench installations, an enhanced drainage system with catch basins, and the addition of a gate and perimeter grills to ensure user safety.
“The covered court serves not only as a hub for sports and recreation but also as a venue for cultural and social events, bringing residents together and enriching the community’s vibrant culture,” Llado said.
Engineer Manolito Atienza supervised the project, which focused on enhancing the existing covered court with upgrades that improve its functionality, comfort, and safety.
Funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act, the initiative underscores the agency’s commitment to improving public spaces for the benefit of local communities. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Bataan)
