LUBAO, Pampanga – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) are fast-tracking emergency repairs on a severely damaged dike connected to the Sto. Cristo Dam in Barangay Sta. Rita, Lubao, to prevent massive flooding that could endanger over 30,000 families.
DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan led the on-site inspection on July 25, confirming the dike is now in critical condition with nearly half of its structure washed out. NIA has provided sheet piles and equipment, while DPWH will deploy manpower for containment. Authorities are coordinating structural reinforcements and permanent repair solutions.
