ANGAT, Bulacan – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has inaugurated a new solar-powered water system in Angat, Bulacan, reinforcing the government’s commitment to sustainable development.
This project aims to provide local residents with a reliable and eco-friendly source of potable water.
DPWH Bulacan 2nd District Engineer George Santos emphasized that the solar water system will bring significant benefits to the community by utilizing on-roof solar panels to power the entire system, actively promoting the use of renewable energy sources.
“The project ensures improved water accessibility and guarantees a clean water source that undergoes a series of purification processes, reducing the risk of waterborne diseases. It not only reduces the carbon footprint but also establishes a model for future eco-friendly initiatives in alignment with national goals,” Santos added.
The structure spans 168 square meters and includes 45 on-roof solar panels and six overhead water tanks with a combined capacity of 12,000 liters, ensuring a steady supply of potable water for the community.
The P9.8-million project, funded under the 2023 national budget, highlights the DPWH’s commitment to improving local access to potable water and supporting residents’ health and development. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Bulacan)
