BALANGA CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the rehabilitation of two school buildings in Hermosa, Bataan.

DPWH Bataan 1st District Engineer Erlindo Flores, Jr. said the projects repaired nine classrooms, providing students with safer and more comfortable learning spaces.

“These classrooms were previously evaluated as being of old standards, with roofs and ceilings in poor condition. With this rehabilitation, we are modernizing these facilities to ensure all students have access to quality education,” Flores said.

In Barangay Pandatung, DPWH restored six classrooms, addressing structural issues that had compromised the safety of students and teachers.

At the Maria Virginia P. Leonson Memorial Elementary School in Barangay Sacrifice Valley, the three-classroom building was upgraded to modern standards, with a particular focus on accessibility for persons with disabilities.

He added that the renovations included new carpentry for blackboards, installation of trusses, cement boards, panel doors, and improvements to comfort rooms, including new toilets and sinks, to enhance the overall school environment.

The projects, costing P13 million, were funded under the 2024 national budget. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Bataan)
