CABANGAN, Zambales – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) conducted a sustainability evaluation of sub-projects under the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan–Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) program in the towns of Cabangan and Palauig in Zambales.
DSWD Field Office III KALAHI-CIDSS OIC-Regional Program Coordinator Aladin Naje said the sustainability evaluation is carried out six months and one year after the implementation of the sub-projects.
“It is conducted to ensure that they are properly maintained and utilized by the community,” he added.
The sub-projects received a “very satisfactory” rating, indicating that they are effective and continue to benefit the residents.
Naje explained that the sub-projects were based on the needs of the barangays and selected by the community.
“As part of the process, seminars were conducted to identify the necessary infrastructure and equipment that will support residents’ daily lives, especially for the poor and vulnerable sectors,” he furthered.
The KALAHI-CIDSS program addresses the needs of barangays through projects that ease daily life and improve access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and transportation.
Sub-projects in Cabangan and Palauig include improvement of barangay roads, construction of slope protection, construction of a health center and day care center, improvement of the water system, purchase of medical tools and equipment, purchase of disaster response equipment, and purchase of farm equipment.
