Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) awarded livelihood kits to 85 members of Samahan ng Malayang Kababaihan ng Bagac (SAMAKABA) Inc.
SAMAKABA disaffiliated from a communist-terrorist group last year.
DTI Provincial Director Nelin Cabahug said the assistance is under their Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG) which is a livelihood seeding and entrepreneurship development program for micro enterprises that prioritizes areas affected by fire incidents and other calamities, including armed conflicts and health disasters.
The livelihood kits consist of a mixed sari-sari store and bigasan package each amounting P10,000 that will help the beneficiaries start their own businesses.
“These PPG kits will help you generate your own source of income and we hope that you will develop and enrich the assistance our government has given to you,” Cabahug told recipients.
She also mentioned that their coordinator in Bagac will closely monitor performance if beneficiaries are able to utilize the kits and garner income from it.
For her part, SAMAKABA Inc. President Helen Tolentino expressed her gratitude to DTI for awarding livelihood kits and helping members start their own businesses.
“We are very thankful to because aside from these livelihood kits, DTI has also given us seminars and assistance to start our dishwashing liquid and fabric conditioner business that has been one of the sources of income in our organization,” Tolentino said. (CLJD-PIA 3)
