DTI continues to support Central Luzon bamboo industry

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) continues to support the development of bamboo industry in Central Luzon through programs that enhance the productivity and income of stakeholders.

They include technology trainings on engineered bamboo, novelty item making, support in marketing and promotion, and provision of Shared Service Facilities (SSF) for the processing of bamboo.

“As of December 2016, we already provided a total of Php14.9 Million worth of SSF equipment for the production of engineered bamboo products for nine cooperators from Aurora, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga and Zambales,” DTI Regional Director Judith Angeles disclosed.

The agency has also brought products from Central Luzon bamboo makers to showcase them in trade fairs and exhibits such as the Manila FAME trade fair at the World Trade Center, the OTOP Center in Makati, Likha ng Central Luzon in Glorietta, Makati and in the Kanadiwan Festival Fair in Ilocos Sur.

“The bamboo industry is one of the priority industry clusters for assistance by the DTI. Bamboo products promise to be a key export potential as Asian countries lead in the production and export of engineered products,” Angeles emphasized. (CLJD-PIA 3)
