CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) provided a total of 1,648 livelihood kits in Central Luzon this year amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
DTI Regional Director Judith P. Angeles disclosed that as of November 30, a total of 1,013 livelihood starter kits amounting to Php 7.97 million were given under the Pangkabuhayan sa Pangkabuhayan at Pagbangon (PPG). PPG beneficiaries include victims of fire incidents, tornado and current health crisis.
“From the figure, Aurora had 79 beneficiaries while Bataan had 180 and Bulacan had 357 beneficiaries. Nueva Ecija had 189 recipients while Pampanga had 98 and Tarlac had 57. Zambales had a total of 53 PPG beneficiaries,” Angeles said.
Moreover, 635 livelihood starter kits were distributed by DTI provincial offices under the Livelihood Seeding Program-Negosyo sa Barangay (LSP-NSB).
“LSP-NSB brings services of government down to the barangay level. We conduct it in partnership with Department of Science and Technology, Department of Labor and Employment, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority and local government units,” Angeles explained.
Of the total number of livelihood packages distributed, had a total of 15 LSP-NSB beneficiaries while Bataan had 136 and Bulacan had 100 recipients. Nueva Ecija had 110 beneficiaries while Pampanga had 95 and Tarlac had 84. Zambales had 100 LSP-NSB livelihood kits beneficiaries.
The LSP-NSB program was funded by Republic Act 11469 otherwise known as Bayanihan to Heal Act As One Act.
“Aside from the kits, the beneficiaries were required to attend Entrepreneurship Development Seminars conducted by DTI to ensure that they have good preparation for entering or enhancing their respective businesses,” Angeles added.
