DTI-Region 3 recognizes Gold Bagwis Awardees in Consumer Welfare Month Kick Off

City of San Fernando, Pampanga- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 3 has conferred the esteemed Central Luzon Outstanding Gold Bagwis Seal Awards to three (3) enterprises in recognition of their dedication to upholding consumer rights, practicing responsible business conduct, and delivering exceptional customer service.

The awarding ceremony coincides with the Consumer Welfare Month 2023 Celebration Kick Off today, October 3 with the theme “GenS: Generation Sustainable” and 25th year anniversary of the major regional trade promotion activity “Likha ng Central Luzon Trade Fair” slated on October 25-29 at Mega Trade Hall, SM Mega Mall, Mandaluyong City.

The awardees are:

1st Place T & T Home Improvement Centre – Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.

2nd Place Toyota San Fernando, Inc. – CSFP, Pampanga

3rd Place Robinsons Supermarket – Balagtas, Bulacan

Prizes:


1st – P30,000 worth of gift certificate, token, certificate of appreciation, compendium of Fair Trade Laws

2nd – – P20,000 worth of gift certificate, token, certificate of appreciation, compendium of Fair Trade Laws

3rd – – P10,000 worth of gift certificate, token, certificate of appreciation, compendium of Fair Trade Laws

This competition was organized and carried out through the month of September where Gold Bagwis-Certified establishments were assessed and evaluated based on implementation and compliance with fair trade and other consumer-related laws, customer relations and services, store management and operations, socially committed and responsible business sector, and quality orientation management.

The Bagwis Award also known as “Bagwis Seal of Excellence” is part of DTI’s program recognized by ASEAN Committee on Consumer Protection (ACCP) as one of the best practices of the country in consumer protection.

“This program at the very least recognizes establishments that promote and foster the highest level of business ethics and uphold the rights of consumers by adopting responsible business practices, and who are registered with DTI/SEC/CDA, BIR, Pag-ibig, SSS, PhilHealth and Mayor/Business Permit; compliant to Fair Trade Laws (FTLs) and other pertinent business laws; and has set-up a Consumer Welfare Desk (CWD) within the business vicinity,” explained OIC-RD Brigida Pili.

To promote the program DTI encourages owners of business establishments practicing good customer-service to apply and qualify for the Bagwis Seal of Excellence. Business establishment can be assessed as Bronze, Silver and Gold Bagwis Awardee in different categories.

“Advance congratulations to our this year’s awardees. Aside from being a symbol of the exemplary performance and initiatives that you have all carried out, let this award also be a challenge to all of you to maintain or even improve these practices and become role models in the business world,” Pili added.

The awardees were also reoriented on the program to remind them of their responsibilities and to continuously comply with the laws and practices that uphold consumer welfare.
