DTI, Tarlac consumers council promote consumer protection through seminar

TARLAC CITY – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Tarlac and the Tarlac Consumers Council Incorporated (TCCI) conducted a consumer awareness and responsiveness education seminar in Barangay Calingcuan, Tarlac City, in line with their shared vision of promoting consumer protection.

A total of 34 participants joined the activity, including barangay councilors, senior citizens, barangay health workers, and other concerned residents.

In his presentation, TCCI President Casiano Supan discussed the rights and responsibilities of consumers.

Meanwhile, DTI Trade-Industry Development Specialist Mary Ann Estacio elaborated on common consumer scenarios, the importance of responsible consumerism, and the appropriate avenues for redress.

She emphasized the dual responsibility of promoting integrity in business and empowering consumers.

“While we aim to foster ethical business practices among establishments, it is also crucial to cultivate a vigilant and well-informed consumer populace,” Estacio said.

TCCI has been DTI Tarlac’s partner in consumer advocacy for years, with notable voluntary initiatives and assistance.
