The DUMPER (Drivers United for Mass Progress and Equal Rights) – Philippines Taxi Drivers Association (DUMPER PTDA), Party List represented by Congresswoman Claudine Diana Bautista, and its implementing agency Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Pampanga have released P1.7 million to 379 displaced workers in Angeles City mostly residents of Barangay Balibago.
Some residents from Barangays Malabanias and Sapangbato also received assistance under its cash-for-work program through the invaluable efforts of newly elected Balibago Barangay Chairman Joseph PG Ponce.
DOLE said the workers listed under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) were overjoyed since the payout was timely for the holiday season.
Each of the 379 beneficiaries received PHP4,600 for doing community works like road and street cleaning.
Ponce said the beneficiaries worked for 10 days and received the minimum wage per day. He also thanked Mayor Carmelo Pogi Lazatin and Congressman Carmelo Jon Lazatin II. Among the attendees Dumper PTDA PL Political Affairs Officer III Robin Carlos Reyes, Joshua David, DOLE Tupad Coordinator Pampanga Field Office and Angeles City Public Employment Services Office (PESO) headed by OIC Ferdinand Calma represented by Irene Bianson, TUPAD AC -PESO local coordinator.
The beneficiaries were also given cleaning kits and uniforms bearing the name of the community-based assistance package as emergency employment for the displaced employees, underemployed and seasonal workers who worked for the period of October 6-15, 2023.
TUPAD workers are also covered by a one-year group personal accident insurance, the premium being shouldered by the agency.
During the payouts, the workers received reference codes which they used in claiming their salaries at the DOLE-Pampanga’s partner remittance center.
Barangay Balibago had the highest number of TUPAD beneficiaries at 349 workers.
Barangays Malabanias had 20 while Sapangbato had 10 beneficiaries. — Press Release
