Subic Bay Freeport – President Rodrigo R. Duterte has appointed lawyer Randy B. Escolango as Deputy Commissioner of the Insurance Commission, Department of Finance.
Duterte signed Escolango’s appointment on August 23 but released the information, along with other presidential appointees, on Tuesday, August 29.
Escolango was drawn into the limelight in late 2016 when Malacañang made him Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Administrator of SBMA, which runs the Subic Bay Freeport.
After passing the Philippine Bar Examinations in 2002, he established his own law office the Escolango Law Office and began his professional career as a private practitioner specializing as Corporate and Litigation lawyer.
He started in the government service as Clerk III (Civil case in-charge) at the Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 4, Manila (1999-2002).
In 2010, he completed his Masters in Public Management and in 2014, a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Administration.
Atty. Escolango’s proven track record and sterling career performance made him elected as the National Vice-President of the prestigious Philippine Association of Government Corporate Lawyers (PAGCLAW).
For his outstanding performance and contribution, he was given a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition by the House of Representatives of the United States of America.
In January, 2015, he was chosen to represent the Philippines in the United Nations (UN) Headquarters, New York to study issues relating to the conservation and sustainable use of marine biodiversity beyond areas of national jurisdiction.
Escolango is expected to officially assume his new post soon, but he has already been in coordination with Finance Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez recently. (Dante M. Salvana)
