More than 300 high school and elementary students from Pampanga joined the Green Film Festival (GFF) launched by the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Central Luzon on April 11.
EMB Regional Director Lormelyn Claudio said GFF featured audio visual presentations and movies about climate change, global warming, air quality protection, water conservation, solid waste management, biodiversity and other environmentally-related topics.
“By exhibiting movies like these, we increase the students’ ecological reflection and awareness and encourage them to be involved in environmental protection,” Claudio added.
Meanwhile, DENR Assistant Regional Director for Management Services Tirso Parian, Jr. pointed that the environmental awareness was an integral part of mobilizing youth as partners in protecting the natural resources of the region.
“We encourage the youth to be environmental stewards of our nature. Despite environmental threats we have today, we believe in their budding potentials to be our partners in transforming those problems into concrete solutions,” Parian said. –Press Release/DENR Central Luzon
