TARLAC CITY — European Union Ambassador Franz Jessen lauded the drug programs and services of the Provincial Government through its Drug Recovery Clinic.
“The Tarlac Outpatient Recovery Clinic is now moving towards becoming a recovery clinic center of excellence that will serve as training facility for other recovery clinics. It has a holistic approach not only focusing on de-addiction but also re-integration into the community after treatment,” Jessen said.
Being the first drug recovery clinic established in the country, Tarlac Drug Recovery Clinic won the “Project of the Year” in the Business Mirror’s Mission: PHL Envoys and Expats Award.
“I share this award with the Provincial Government and the Tarlac Drug Recovery Clinic for their dedication and commitment under the initiative of the Department of Health (DOH) and the Dangerous Drug Board, for the successful establishment of one of the first pilot recovery clinics set up in the country with the support from the European Union and other partners,” he said.
He added the initiative is a good showcase of how the EU collaborates with the government on its fight against illegal drugs while at the same time illustrating their own experiences in addressing drug issues in Europe.
EU also expressed support to DOH for the development of a model voluntary medical treatment for non-severely addicted drug-users.
Tarlac Drug Recovery Clinic offers evidence-based drug abuse medical treatment in a voluntary outpatient setting that preserves human dignity via medical record privacy and confidentiality protection under the Philippine laws.
