ANGELES CITY – The resurgence of face-to-face education is seen in the next two years, according to Holy Angel University (HAU) President Luis Maria Calingo on Wednesday.
Calingo said the online learning scheme under the new normal will take at least two years before the transition back to face-to-face learning. At least 90 percent of the total number of students at HAU had enrolled in the current school year, said Calingo.
Calingo has expressed optimism on the success of the online learning scheme which was supported by Converge ICT Solutions Inc. Founder and CEO Dennis Uy, an alumni of HAU, and Huawei Philippines which donated 30 5G-capable Huawei WiFi6 modems.
The 30 internet access points will be strategically placed all over HAU to support the online education scheme.
Calingo said he called Uy to support online education at HAU which the latter fully supported.
“We (HAU) are the most ready school to open. We are ready to open as of June 16, 2020 or 45 days after the lockdown,” said Calingo.
“Do not rely on the government because the government does not have the expertise (to handle online education). Government is not the answer to everything that is why the private sector is the answer referring to the assistance of Converge and Huawei to the provide internet connectivity to HAU.
Calingo also said IT students now have the chance to get a two-week all-expense paid Information and Communications Techonology training at the Huawei Academy in Shenzhen, China.
Huawei Philippines Account Director Roby Sun said at least 30 students all over the Philippines will be selected for the two-week training on ICT.
