CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Farmers and Small and Micro Enterprises (SMEs) here have attended an Industry Cluster Development Program dubbed “Benchmarking cum Capability and Action Planning of Small and Micro entrepreneurs and Good practices in Organic farming.”
Held at Baguio City from July 19-21, the seminar was organized by the City Investment and Promotion Office (CIPO) in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry.
CIPO Project Development Officer Jeffrey Yutuc said the activity aims to help farmers and enterprisers improve their sales performance by applying new business strategies.
“This seminar will give them various ideas and techniques on how to boost their sales and further improve their businesses,” Yutuc said.
Meanwhile, the Benguet State University conducted a benchmark for food processing and organic farming wherein the farmers were taught on the good practices of farming and harvesting.
They also showed the proper sanitation in food processing to the SMEs who are involved in food business.
Other topics discussed during the seminar are the process of developing an action plan and effective key strategies on how to achieve: product, market and enterprise development, access to finance to create additional jobs & capacity development.
For his part, Mayor Edwin “Edsa” Santiago stressed the importance of entrepreneurship which is considered as the lifeblood of the city’s economy.
He also added that the city has a huge potential when it comes to international marketing considering the quality of local products that San Fernando offers.
