More than 200 graduating college students who are beneficiaries of the Educational Scholarship Assistance Program of the local government of San Fernando attended a seminar on Job Hunting held Monday at Waltermart.
This was jointly organized by the City Employment Service Division and City Mayor’s Office, in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment with the aim to prepare Fernandino youth for the real world.
In his speech, Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago furthered that he hopes to make San Fernando a City of Graduates who can competently market their skills and expertise to meet the current labor requirements.
“Ipinagmamalaki namin kayong mga iskolar ng bayan at hangad ng lokal na pamahalaan na hindi lang kayo basta makapagtapos ng pag-aaral, bagkus ay makahanap din ng magandang trabaho para sa ikauunlad ng inyong mga pamilya at ng ating mahal na syudad,” he said.
Among the topics discussed by the CESD were the job hunting tips, Jobstart program and various Public Employment Services.
Local partner employers have also joined the activity to find possible employees for their respected companies. While, other students who fail to find a suitable job vacancy were required to submit their DOLE Registration Form to the CESD for future job referral.
Also present during the Job Hunting Seminar were Councilors BJ Lagman and Harvey Quiwa.
