Filipino communities across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut gathered in Manhattan for a prayer rally protesting the trial of former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte at the International Criminal Court (ICC). The demonstration, marked by chants and prayers, aimed to express solidarity with the Duterte family and demand justice for the former leader.

The event was organized by PDP-Laban International NY/NJ/CT, Patriotic Filipinos, Maisug America, SDS, and the CDO-Misamis Oriental Association of NY. Participants held signs and banners condemning the ICC proceedings, arguing that Duterte’s actions should be judged within the Philippine legal system rather than by an international tribunal.
Supporters emphasized Duterte’s role in combating crime and drugs in the Philippines, a campaign that drew both praise and criticism during his presidency. As the ICC trial progresses, the rally highlighted growing divisions within the global Filipino community, with some calling for international accountability and others fiercely defending the former president’s legacy.
