Most Filipinos trust the United States more than China, based on the survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) last month.
The SWS survey conducted between September 24 and 27 on 1,200 respondents from Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, indicated that the US got a trust rating of 76 percent.
The Filipinos have “much trust in the United States with only 11 per cent saying they have little trust or have doubts about the country.”
The US bested the following countries in the SWS trust survey: Australia (47 percent), Japan (34 percent), Norway (16 percent), The Netherlands (14 percent), Taiwan (3 percent) and China (-33 percent).
The US Government has said that it will honor its commitment to the Philippines despite the brickbats it was receiving from President Rodrigo Duterte, who threatened to severe military and economic ties with its long-time ally.
