ORION, Bataan — About 1,081 families who were victims of the recent fire in barangay Capunitan in Orion town received social and financial assistance from the national and local government.
As soon as the victims were evacuated to Capunitan Elementary School, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office has distributed food packs to affected residents.
“To all those affected by the fire, please accept our heartfelt sympathy and we will not stop providing assistance until all of you get back to your proper lives,” Governor Albert Garcia pledged.
The Provincial Government allocated PhP10 million to assist the victims and provided PhP10,000 cash assistance to each affected family.
Victims were transferred to Bataan National School of Fisheries to properly provide a more comfortable area with tents.
Garcia stressed that he will coordinate with National Housing Authority and Department of Environment and Natural Resources to provide a relocation site to the affected residents.
Meanwhile, Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 3 has already distributed 1,018 packs each of food, family kit (clothes and undergarments), and sleeping kit.
Various civil society organizations and volunteer groups have also coordinated with the municipal government of Orion to provide more assistance.
The town is now under state of calamity due to the incident that hit about 800 houses.
