ANGELES CITY – The first-ever wastewater treatment facility funded solely by the city government is set to be completed this March at the Pampang Public Market, marking a step toward environmental sustainability and public health protection.
This is the second wastewater treatment facility in Angeles City, following the first one at the city slaughterhouse, which was funded through a Joint Venture Agreement.
Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. emphasized the dual benefits of the project, stating, “This initiative not only promotes environmental protection but also brings cost efficiency for the city government.”
The facility is designed to transform wastewater into reusable, clean, and safe water, reducing water pollution from the public market and conserving water resources. By removing contaminants from wastewater, the risk of water pollution and the spread of waterborne diseases will be minimized.
Lazatin noted, “Once the water is cleaned and treated, it can be reused for various purposes such as agriculture, industry, and cleaning.”
This innovative approach to wastewater management not only helps conserve water resources but also reduces expenses for water consumption.
Additionally, the city government has reinforced the strict implementation of proper solid waste management in the public market and all 33 barangays to minimize waste entering the waterways.
This development reflects Angeles City’s commitment to sustainability, responsible resource management, and public health, aligning with Mayor Lazatin’s flagship programs since he took office in 2019.
