First ever floating clinic in PH, set to launch in Pampanga

Minalin, Pampanga— The future of primary healthcare is whithin Pampanga’s reach as the Provincial Government of Pampanga is set to launch its first-ever floating clinic in the Philippines to bring healthcare closer to underserved communities, across the province.

The project, called “Clinic on Barge” was  spearheaded by Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda and Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda. The initiative aims to address the healthcare needs of Kapampangans living in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.

Earlier today, key provincial and local officials conducted an on-site inspection of the 112-square meter floating facility. Leading the inspection were Vice Governor Lilia Pineda and Minalin Mayor Philipo “Pogi” Naguit.

According to the vice governor, the facility demonstrates the Capitol’s commitment to accessible, high-quality, and inclusive medical services for all.

Funded with ₱28 million budget, the clinic on barge will function as a primary care facility with the capacity to accommodate up to 200 patients.

According to the Provincial Health Office (PHO), the facility will offer essential healthcare services including laboratory diagnostics such as X-ray and ultrasound, dental care, ECG, minor medical and surgical procedures, OB-Gyne consultations for prenatal and maternal care, and access to prescription and maintenance medicines through its in-house pharmacy.

Further strengthening its service capabilities, the floating clinic is equipped with a dedicated sewage treatment system and a water pumping facility, ensuring sustainable operations even in remote locations.

Also present during the inspection were 3rd District Board Member Atty. Jun Canlas, 4th District Board Member-Elect Dr. Kaye Naguit, Provincial Engineer Olimpio Pangan, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Dax Tidula, PPDO Jericho Tapang, PENRO Arthur Punsalan, GSO Chief Francis Maslog, and PIO OIC Gracie Rutao.
