Fisherfolks in Pampanga receive aid from BFAR

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Fisherfolks from different towns in Pampanga benefitted from the livelihood aid of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).

Under the agency’s “Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat” program, fish farmers and growers received 132,000 tilapia fingerlings and 120,000 bangus fingerlings.

In addition, 5,000 common carp fingerlings were distributed to the fisherfolks under BFAR’s “Balik Sigla sa Ilog at Lawa” program.

BFAR Regional Director Wilfredo Cruz said the intervention is a way of paying tribute to the hard work of fisherfolks in order to provide food for the Filipinos especially amid the ongoing health crisis.

“There is no other way to celebrate our fisherfolks for all their hardwork than to help improve their livelihood and increase their income. It is the least we can do,” Cruz said.

Fisherfolks from the towns of Apalit, Sasmuan, Lubao, Macabebe, and Masantol benefitted from the said aid.

Similar interventions were given to fisherfolks in the provinces of Tarlac and Bataan.
