Flood erosion exposes faulty dike construction

In Barangay Suclaban, Mexico, erosion has exposed short sheet piles in a flood control project along the Abacan River.

This issue, revealed by recent heavy rains, confirms local officials’ concerns about the P199.495-million project managed by A.D. Gonzales Jr. Construction & Trading Company Inc.

The project, which spanned from June 13, 2022, to June 7, 2023, has prompted graft and corruption allegations against Rep. Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr., owner of the firm, as reported by the Mexico Association of Barangay Captains.
