MABALACAT CITY – City Mayor Crisostomo “Cris” Garbo underscored the importance of sincerity in public service during his keynote on the commemoration of the 8th cityhood anniversary.
“My request to everybody is we must all be sincere with what we are doing (as public servants),” Garbo said.Garbo urged his fellow public officials and department heads to move on and face the challenges, especially during this time of pandemic.“Magkaisa tayo. What is important is to move on. Ano dapat ang results ng pagiging city natin? We just have to move on and give credit where it is due, especially former Mayor Boking Morales,” Garbo said. “Now that we are in a pandemic, paano tayo magkakaisa sa pamamagitan ng pagiging syudad natin? Nararamdaman na ba ng ating kababayan ang pagiging syudad natin? How can we give service and help with the problems of our constituents?”
Garbo said he will not be a hindrance to whoever wants to serve the city.
“Basta sinoman ang nanunungkulan, kahit pribadong indibidual man yan, basta nakakagawa ng nakaayon sa batas at mabuti sa syudad, hindi ko pagbabawalan,” said Garbo. This, “despite of some few people na walang satisfaction, at least we’ve done our best.”Garbo also urged the city’s department heads and their staff to contribute to lessening the COVID-19 transmissions in the city.
“Maging mapagmasid tayo. Please tell your employees to do something about pandemic and contribute. Pag may nakitang bata sa daan, pauwiin nila. Kapag walang mask, sabihan na bawal,” he said.
“Let’s keep on praying na mayari na pu ing pandemic ayni. We will not fail and we will do good for the city,” said Garbo.
