MABALACAT CITY – Mayor Crisostomo Garbo has ordered the localized lockdown of two streets in Barangay Sta. Ines here after a 29-year-old has tested positive for the coronavirus.
According to the mayor, the area where Patient No.11 resides and nearby areas will be under localized lockdown, while contact tracing is now being done on those who came in close contact with the patient to prevent the spread of the “migratory” virus.
“We’ve done contact tracing and the family of the patient so far tested negative for the virus,” he said.
The patient is now admitted at the Diosdado P. Macapagal Memorial Hospital.
All who came in close contact with the patient are scheduled for swab testing, the mayor added.
“Huwag po mag-alala ang lahat ng ating mga kababayan dahil po ginagawa nating lahat ng kaparaanan para sa kapakanan ng bawat isa. Maghihigpit rin po tayo sa lahat ng papasok sa ating syudad, especially yung nanggagaling sa ibang lugar, at yung lumalabas sa ating syudad,” Garbo furthered.
All residents in the affected areas will receive assistance from the city government.
He said the city government will shoulder the swabbing tests and hospitalization costs.
Earlier, the mayor has issued an executive order stating that barangay officials shall report within 24 hours all visitors or residents who came from Manila or other provinces to prevent the spread of COVID 19.
Residents who came from other places are subject to home quarantine until the barangay health office clears them.
