Garcia leads Bataan Health Summit 2019

BALANGA CITY — Known for championing universal health care in the province, Bataan Governor Abet Garcia on Wednesday led the pledge and signing of commitment for the Universal Health Care (UHC) during the Bataan Health Summit 2019 held at Lou-Is Restaurant in this component city.

Attended by health care practitioners and stakeholders from the public and private sectors all over the province, the said Summit was organized by the Provincial Health Office headed by Dr. Rosanna Buccahan. 

Zuelling Family Foundation, one of the staunch partners of the Provincial Government of Bataan in the implementation of UHC, was also present along with Bataan Medical Society and officials from the Department of Health.

Mayor Jopet Inton of Hermosa, Orani Mayor Efren Pascual Jr. and Samal Mayor Aida De Guia Macalinao joined Governor Garcia along with DOH, Philhealth and the University of the Philippines in the signing of collaboration agreement of Integrated EMR (electronic medical record). 

“Ipinahayag sa pagpupulong na ito ang kahalagahan ng Kalusugan sa lahat ng Bataeño at ang pagtalakay at dagdag kaalaman sa Universal Health Care na nakaplanong ilunsad sa ating Lalawigan ng Bataan!,” Mayor Inton told this reporter. 

The participants were given updates on the polio disease and current health care situations in the province. Samal Municipal Health Officer (MHO) Dr. Cristina Espino presented the scaling model of their integrated health system.

Towards the end of the Summit, eleven barangays from the municipalities of Orion, Orani, Samal, Pilar, Dinalupihan, and City of Balanga were awarded Php 50,000.00 each for complying to the requirements of the One Bataan Seal of Healthy Barangay Challenge for the months of August and September
