Globe quickly restores service in areas affected by ‘Aghon’

Globe has restored service in parts of Luzon affected by Aghon, which swept
through the region over the weekend, bringing heavy rains and floods in
various areas.

Telecommunications services were affected due to commercial power outages
in provinces that bore the brunt of the storm, the first tropical cyclone
to hit the country this year.

Per Globe’s monitoring, outages affected 12 provinces in Southern Luzon,
Bicol, and Mimaropa.

As of 12 noon Monday, call, text and data services have been fully restored
in majority of the affected areas, among them Albay, Batangas, Camarines
Norte, Cavite, Marinduque, Masbate, Palawan and Romblon.

Restoration is nearly complete in Camarines Sur, Laguna and Quezon, and
underway in Mindoro.

“We know how crucial connectivity is to disaster response and recovery
operations, that’s why we worked swiftly to restore services in most of the
affected areas. Our personnel continue to work double time to bring back
connectivity to the remaining few provinces with partial outages,” said
Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications
Officer.

Globe is also ready to deploy Libreng Tawag and Libreng Charging stations
in storm-hit areas as soon as it is safe to do so.

In its 11 a.m. advisory on Monday, state weather bureau Pagasa said Aghon,
which has intensified into a typhoon, was spotted 100 kms east southeast of
Casiguran Aurora following multiple landfalls across the Luzon landmass
over the weekend.  It has gained strength, packing maximum sustained winds
of 140 kph and gusts up to 170kph, moving at 10 kph.

It is expected to continue bringing rains in the coming days in Mimaropa
and Western Visayas.

Globe calls on the public to continue monitoring official advisories on the
weather. It provides customers free data access to the website of the National
Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council <https://ndrrmc.gov.ph/>
(NDRRMC) and PAGASA <https://www.pagasa.dost.gov.ph/> for updates.
