Gov Yap eyes zero COVID-19 casualties among Tarlac health workers

TARLAC CITY — Tarlac Governor Susan Yap is eyeing zero casualties among the doctors and medical staff in the province against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In a press conference, Yap noted that the provincial government has purchased personal protective equipment, thermal scanners, gloves and face masks in advance for the provincial medical frontliners to ensure their health and safety.

“We are also in constant coordination with our doctors and medical staff in the province to make sure that we are always prepared in terms of the medical supplies and the facilities,” she said.

The governor stated that the COVID-19 facility at the Tarlac Provincial Hospital has been expanded from a 35-bed capacity to a 50-bed capacity.

“We’ve also identified the Enrique Cojuangco District Hospital in Moncada town and La Paz Medicare Community Hospital in La Paz as quarantine facilities for suspected cases of COVID19 aside from those sites identified by the other municipalities and city,” she added.

Moreover, one floor of the Athletes’ Village was dedicated for medical frontliners that will be deployed in New Clark City in Capas town.

Yap furthered that the provincial government is continuously training Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams to increase the medical manpower of the province.
