About 1,000 tree seedlings of narra, bamboo, and cashew were planted in barangays Lamao and Alangan in Limay, Bataan.
This is part of the “Buhayin ang Pangangalaga sa Kalikasan” nationwide simultaneous tree planting activity of Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and Department of Agriculture in collaboration with other national government agencies and local government units (LGUs).
In her message, DILG Provincial Director Belina Herman emphasized the role of LGUs in achieving a community that is environmentally protected, disaster resilient, and climate change adaptive.
She also mentioned that through this initiative, participants are creating a more livable world for future generations.
“Preserving our environment is the best legacy that we can give to our next generation, let us make sure our world is still livable for them,” Herman emphasized.
For his part, DENR Assistant Regional Director Laudemir Salac said the tree-planting and tree-growing activities are commitments in investing in the future of the planet.
He also assured that the Provincial and Community DENR offices in Bataan, together with the LGUs, are consistently monitoring and maintaining the growth of the trees planted.
The nationwide activity coincided with the 65th birthday of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. (CLJD/CASB-PIA 3)
