In a bid to provide a greener and fresher environment, a tree-planting activity was held at Armenia Material Recovery Facility, in Barangay Armenia, Tarlac City for Arbor Day celebration on Tuesday.
The said event was crafted from the City Ordinance No. 008-14 or Arbor Day celebration every 1st of August annually. Tarlac City Councilor Diosdado Briones, co-author and sponsor of the C.O.008-14 urged the citizens aged 12 and above to plant at least one tree per year.
The said event was spearheaded by City Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) and was actively participated by various government offices and private sectors such as City Government of Tarlac City headed by Councilor Briones, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Tarlac, Department of Education (DepEd),Philippine National Police ,Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Army 3rd Mechanized Infantry Battalion and Northern Luzon Command, City Agriculture Office (CAO), City Engineer’s Office (CEO), City Tourism Office (CTO), City Information Officer (CIO), Save the Earth Movement, Bulong Environmentalists, Federation of Senior Citizens of the Philippines, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), ONE Tarlac Inc., United Architects of the Phils., Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers, Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines and SM City Tarlac. All of the groups who joined have planted 50 seedlings each.
The event encourages tree planting to achieve a balanced and healthful ecology and ensure participation of various government and non-government organizations in the society.
The CENRO Tarlac, government and non-government sectors who joined the Arbor Day celebration were optimistic their endeavors will have an impact to our society especially to the future. Also other civic groups were encouraged to join in this activity by sharing a hand in maintaining the trees planted during the Arbor Day 2017 celebration.
