‘Habagat’ to bring some rains Saturday

MANILA – The “habagat” or the southwest monsoon is set to affect the country’s weather on Saturday.

In its 4 a.m. daily weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said there will be occasional rains over the Ilocos region, Abra, Benguet, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro caused by the southwest monsoon.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila, Calabarzon, the rest of the Cordillera region, the rest of Cagayan Valley, the rest of Central Luzon, Calamian Island, and Antique brought by the “habagat”.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the same weather phenomenon.

Meanwhile, a tropical depression has been seen outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility at 2,515 km. east-northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph, moving northeast at 35 kph.
