The Hotel and Restaurant Association of Pampanga (HARP) has expressed its full support for the newly signed law granting Value-Added Tax (VAT) refunds to non-resident tourists.
HARP President and Microtel by Wyndham Pampanga General Manager Donna Ravina, who represented the organization at the signing ceremony on December 9 at Malacañang Palace, hailed the legislation as a major boost for the Philippine tourism industry.
“This is a significant step forward that will enhance the competitiveness of our tourism offerings and elevate the Philippines as a prime travel destination,” Ravina said.
Under this program, tourists can claim a refund on purchases made on accredited stores worth P3,000, provided these goods are taken out of the country within 60 days of purchase.
She added that the VAT refund system aligns with HARP’s mission to promote the growth of the hospitality and tourism sectors, generate more revenue, and improve the overall guest experience.
“The VAT refund will directly benefit our hotels, restaurants, and related businesses by increasing spending from non-resident tourists, who are key drivers of the Philippine economy,” Ravina explained.
