HAU students bag four special awards in 2nd NSEF

The research team composing of fifth year college students of Holy Angel University in Angeles City, Pampanga bagged four special awards in the 2nd National Science and Engineering Fair (NSEF) held on February 2 to 3 at the Teachers’ Camp, Baguio City.

The winning team from the university’s Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) -Applied Science and Research Sector is composed of head researcher Emmanuel Balanon and members Jose Joshua Lagman and Mark Eugene Tongol.

Out of 400 participants, their research entitled ‘Development of an Earthquake Simulation Table for Testing and Recording the Damping Motions of High Rise Building Models Undergone Buckingham Pi Theorem for Base Shear Analysis of Infrastructures on the areas affected by the West Valley Fault’ won Senior High school and College-Engineering Category Finalist, Special Merit Award, Best Environmental Research and Best Poster.

NSEF was organized by STEM Education Training Hub in cooperation with Ascendens Asia, and Singapore Institute of Multidisciplinary Professions which aims to provide a venue for the students and teachers nationwide to express and practice their acquired scientific skills by finding solutions to the societal, environmental and even community problems through scientific research.

This year’s scientific research competition was joined by high school and college students, teachers, supervisors and school administrators.
