Authorities confiscated high-grade marijuana, locally known as Kush, worth approximately P39 million during an operation on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
The discovery stemmed from a suspicious package reported by a woman to the Balagtas Municipal Police Station. The package, addressed to her incarcerated brother, was sent from Toronto, Canada, by an alias “Paul.” According to the woman, they have no relatives abroad, raising suspicions that the package was linked to her brother’s drug-related case.
Police, accompanied by a barangay official, Department of Justice representatives, and media, inspected the package and found 52 sealed plastics containing about 26 kilograms of marijuana.
PRO3 Regional Director PBGen. Redrico A. Maranan lauded the swift action of Balagtas police, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in the fight against illegal drugs. Authorities are investigating further to uncover the scope of the syndicate’s operations, which are suspected to be tied to international drug trade networks.
