“Let’s just pray for them.” This was Senator Imee Marcos’ remark on the rumored rift between her brother, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and Vice President Sara Duterte.
Speaking to reporters, Marcos said she had chosen to remain independent in politics early on, anticipating possible clashes among leaders. “I knew disagreements would happen,” she said, adding that the public should instead understand and pray for the situation.
In a lighter tone, Marcos referred to the impeachment complaint filed against Duterte as a “headache.” The case stems from allegations regarding the use of confidential funds under the Office of the Vice President.
The senator made these statements during the opening of the Pampang Public Market in Angeles City, Pampanga, on Tuesday, November 28. She attended the event with Mayor Pogi Lazatin, Congressman Jon Lazatin, and other local officials.
Despite political tensions, Marcos emphasized the need for unity. “The nation’s welfare should be prioritized over personal conflicts,” she said.
