BALANGA CITY – Traveling to nearby barangays has become easier for residents of Barangay Wawa in Pilar, Bataan, with the completion of a road improvement and bridge project by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Covering the upgrading of a 0.713-kilometer local road and the construction of a 24-square-meter bridge, the project was funded with P6.86 million from the 2024 national budget.

It forms part of government efforts to improve infrastructure in communities and strengthen local connectivity, aligned with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Build Better More program.

“With the completion of these projects, residents of Wawa and nearby areas can now expect improved mobility of goods and services,” DPWH Bataan 2nd District Engineer Roland Rainier Victorino said.

Project Engineer Jeallen Tuazon added that the initiative also features six-meter-high solar LED roadway lightings and pedestrian railings.

“These will greatly improve travel conditions and enhance road safety for the community by providing a more dependable route,” she explained.

Aside from smoother transportation, the road and bridge are expected to contribute to local economic activity, supporting sustainable growth and development in the whole town of Pilar. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Bataan)
