A 30-year-old man on Saturday went missing and believed to have drowned after swimming while intoxicated at a beach resort in Olongapo City.
Police were told Bernardo Laynes, 30, of Angeles City, Pampanga and his friends went to Raniebels Beach Resort, Baloy Long Beach in Barangay Barretto, Olongapo City.
After drinking, Laynes and another friend identified as Russel Santos, 27, of Porac, Pampanga, went for a swim.
However, their other friends noticed that both Laynes and Santos were getting farther away from the shore which prompted them to save the two who are believed inebriated.
Concerned citizens Morgan Mayor and Jojo Lazaro were able to pull out Santos but Laynes was carried away by the big waves.
This prompted them to seek help from members of the Barangay Barretto Fire and Rescue Unit who rushed Santos to the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital.
Government authorities are still currently searching for Laynes.
