CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Is he, or isn’t he?
That’s the question surrounding former World City Mayor Oscar Rodriguez, after Liberal Party (LP) candidate Eugene Diaz withdrew his certificate of candidacy for the city’s mayoralty post on Monday.
The LP – and Rodriguez’s supporters – are clamoring hor him to file his COC as subsitute for Diaz as LP’s bet for city mayor on May 2019.
In a press conference yesterday, Rodriguez, accompanied by LP-Pampanga spokesperson and 3rd District Board Member Ananis Canlas Jr.,
said he has not made a decision yet, pending the decision of the LP national leadership on the possible move for local LP officials in the city
The press conference was held at the Best Western Hotel on Monday, three days before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) deadline for substitution.
“There is communication between the LP and the incumbent mayor,” Rodriguez said, adding that he would rather wait for the decision of the LP national leadership on how to proceed.
Rodriguez said earlier that LP Secretary General Quezon City Rep. Jose Christopher Belmonte called on him to “continue his leadership of this vibrant city and to reconsider his earlier decision not to run in the 2019 elections.”
