A Cabalen from the City of San Fernando is all set today to prove himself to be in a class of his own against seven other finalists in the Season 5 grand finale of the amateur singing competition Tawag ng Tanghalan on the noontime variety show It’s Showtime.
19-year-old Psalm Manalo from Essel Park Subdivision in the country’s Christmas capital of San Fernando, will compete this Saturday against finalists Gem Christian, Adrian Manibale, Anthony Castillo, Lorraine Galvez, Aixia Mallary, Reiven Umali and Froilan Cedilla in the culmination of what the singing search dubs as the Ang Huling Tapatan (The Final Face-off).
Three finalists will battle it out in the final round wherein one will emerge the grand winner, pared down from the eight contenders by highest judges’ scores in the first round of the grand finals. (Text voting will only be allowed during the battle of the three finalists)
Psalm is urging his fellow Cabalens from the length and breadth of Pampanga and the country to watch The Final Face-off and to vote for him since racking up more votes will make a huge difference in coming out on top of the finals and in achieving his dream.
In his Facebook post, Psalm said that the unbroken motivations and joy he gets from his family, friends and supporters are what drives him to give his all every time he performs on stage.
50% of the criteria will come from the text votes of Madlang Pipol while the jury (Hurado’s Score) accounts for the remaining 50 percent in the final round.
The Madlang Pipol can watch the finals on A2Z channel on free TV and digital TV boxes, Kapamilya Channel on cable and satellite TV, Kapamilya Online Live on ABS-CBN Entertainment’s YouTube channel and Facebook page, and on the iWantTFC app (iOs and Android) and on iwanttfc.com. Viewers outside of the Philippines can also catch it on The Filipino Channel on cable and IPTV.
Prizes awaiting the grand winner include a tidy sum of P 1miilion, a P2.3 million worth of brand new house and lot from Camella, a recording contract with ABS-CBN Music, a management contract under Star Magic’s Polaris, and a trophy done by the renowned visual artist Toym Imao (Abdulmari de Leon lmao, Jr.)

Psalm became a semi finalist last June 4 after outsinging his rivals for two straight weeks in a series of daily rounds in the First Quarter Finals held between May and June.
The August 28 final was also cancelled due to the lingering health crisis compounded by the spread of the highly contagious Delta variant of COVID-19 virus and subsequent lockdowns, forcing the show to put it back two days before the scheduled final season
All contenders as well became finalists for the singing contest, with the scheduled run of the segment shortened by dropping the semi-final rounds and Resbak (wildcard) rounds.
