Salesian priest and 2016 Most Outstanding Kapampangan for Social Services Father Marciano Evangelista, most known as Fr. Rocky, is set to fly to Sanya in China to receive the Humanitarian Award during the finals of Miss World on November 18.
In a letter from Miss World Organization chief executive officer and Beauty with a Purpose program founder Julia Morley states, “Your work (Tuloy Foundation) is remarkable and I am delighted that we will continue to support your humanitarian efforts.”
During the awarding rites, a presentation on the accomplishments and best practices of the Tuloy Foundation will be televised live.
“We hope that this presentation will serve as a catalyst for other countries to adopt similar programs that protect Children at risk and provide them and provide them with an environment of love and support so that they can grow and flourish,” Morley added.
It was in 1993 when Evangelista started the Tuloy in a small room in St. John Bosco Parish Compound in Makati which sheltered 12 homeless children. Currently, there are three Tuloy centers: Tuloy Oasis Nature Therapy Campsite in Laguna, Tuloy sa Don Bosco in Alabang and Tuloy sa Bahay Bata in Angeles City which continuously provide reintegration to street children through comprehensive program on caring, healing and teaching.
