“LIVING a life of purpose.” That is what new Angeles City Clark Balibago Lions Club District 301-D2 president Maria Kat Mercado described her journey on how she “could create a meaningful impact in this world.”
The 32-year old stunner was sworn in as president of the Angeles City Clark Balibago Lions Club District 301-D2 during the 23rd Anniversary and 24th Induction Ceremonies held at the Best Western Hotel on Friday evening.
Mercado said the Angeles City Clark Balibago Lions Club District 301-D2 would embark on a medical mission in February 2025 in the Clark Freeport Zone that would benefit more than 1,000 beneficiaries. Free medical check ups and medicines will be accorded to beneficiaries during the medical and dental mission.
“Tonight, we gather not just to celebrate the induction of new officers but also to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of our beloved club. This milestone reminds us of the years we’ve dedicated to service, camaraderie, and making a meaningful difference in our community,” Mercado said.
“Before I joined the Lions Club, I often questioned my purpose and how I could create a meaningful impact in this world. Growing up, I had the privilege of watching my parents set an example of service and compassion.
“My mom, a public servant, and my dad, who was deeply involved in various organizations, showed me what it meant to live a life of purpose. Alongside them, my sister also played a significant role, inspiring me through her own acts of kindness and support. Their actions instilled in me the belief that life is not just about living—it’s about helping others and creating a positive impact.
“When I joined the Lions Club, everything became clearer. I discovered what it meant to truly serve, connect with people, and contribute to something bigger than myself. The club gave me a platform to uplift lives and work with like-minded individuals, reminding me that together, we can achieve so much more.
“To my fellow Lions, you are not just a club or an organization. You’ve become my family. I am deeply thankful for your unwavering support, dedication, and camaraderie. Despite the short notice for this induction and anniversary celebration, together, we were able to make it happen. It’s truly remarkable how, in such a limited amount of time, our collective efforts, teamwork, and passion brought this event to life.
“This achievement reflects the heart and spirit of our club—our ability to come together and accomplish great things. To the outgoing officers, thank you for your hard work and dedication. To our new members, congratulations and welcome to the Lions family! In just a moment, you will take your oaths, marking the beginning of your journey with us. I look forward to working with you as we continue to uphold the values and mission of the Lions Club together.
“The Lions Club’s motto, “We Serve,” is not just a phrase—it’s a way of life. It reminds us of our purpose: to bring hope, uplift lives, and create a better world. Each one of us plays a vital role in this mission, and together, we ensure that our legacy of compassion and kindness lives on,” Mercado said.
Mercado has also expressed her gratitude to District Governor Sol Wilfredo C. Flores Jr., Vice District Governor Tess Andaya, Past International Director Michael S. So, Executive Vice President, Alf Fernandez, IPP Zone Chair Raffy and Regional Chair Janine Bravo “for the unwavering support and guidance you have provided throughout my journey in the Lions Club.”
