LIMAY, Bataan – The local government unit of Barangay Lamao in this first-class town has expanded more health services to its residents.
This was reported to 1Bataan.com reporters in a recent news briefing with Lamao village chief, Punong Barangay Restituto “Bart” Reyes.
Reyes said their village’s health center has five doctors in rotating duties and maintains a pharmacy with enough basic medicines for common ailments. Lamao recently purchased two brand-new ambulances for their emergencies.
“Our annual budget for our medicine here is ₱5 million,” Reyes told this reporter.
Reyes, who is also the Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) president of this municipality, also reported that since President Rodrigo R. Duterte enforced a strict campaign against illegal drugs in the country, every resident who wants to secure a barangay clearance is subject to a free drug test.
He also said that only two persons among the clearance applicants were found positive illegal drug users and were brought to their own “Bahay Pagbabago” or drug rehabilitation center.
Lamao has a population of almost 20,000 which made it the most populous barangay and yet tagged as the most progressive in Bataan.
Lamao is the home of Camp General Antonio Luna which incorporates the Government Arsenal and the country’s biggest oil refinery, Petron Bataan Refinery now owned by San Miguel Corporation.
