Lapid pushes pro-poor housing solutions in DHSUD Briefing

Senate Committee on Housing, Urban Planning and Resettlement Chairman Senator Lito Lapid received a comprehensive briefing on the state of the country’s housing sector from Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling on Monday.

The meeting served as a welcome session for Lapid, who was named chairperson of the Senate housing committee for the 20th Congress earlier this month.

Aliling outlined the national government’s initiatives under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program, including efforts to streamline regulatory functions and strengthen coordination with attached agencies to accelerate shelter delivery.

Lapid, in turn, expressed strong support for the administration’s housing agenda and offered inputs on ways to expand access, particularly for low-income and underprivileged families. He also laid out practical solutions aimed at ensuring that the 4PH program effectively reaches its intended beneficiaries.

The senator was joined by his legislative officers, Atty. Abel Maglanque and Atty. John DX Lapid. Accompanying Aliling were Senior Undersecretary Henry Yap and Director Mario Mallari.
