ANGELES CITY — Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. on July 24, 2024 convened the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, ordering the force and  immediate evacuation of families residing beside creeks.

The ACDRRMC was convened via zoom meeting.

In the said meeting, Mayor Lazatin personally asked for situational updates from the 33 Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committees as the city government wants to ensure the safety of the public.

He also instructed Environmental Management System Head Kiko Pangilinan to deploy trucks for the swift evacuation of families near the riverbanks.

As of this writing, 39 families — composed of 130 individuals — were already evacuated in the Main Evacuation Center of the city in Barangay Mining and received immediate assistance from the city government.

Lazatin visited and checked on the situation of the evacuees with ACDRRMO Chief Rodolfo Simeon, Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, and City Social Welfare and Development Officer Edna Duaso, assuring that the city government will support and assist their needs.

Earlier today, Mayor Lazatin also inspected the water level at the Abacan River alongside the creeks in the city with Simeon and Calaguas.

He also ordered to deploy doctors from the City Health Office at the city’s evacuation center; readied the stockpile of food for evacuees; and instructed Manuel to ready the supplies of medicine for evacuees, especially for kids.
