ANGELES CITY — Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. has earmarked P15 million financial assistance to displaced tricycle and jeepney drivers here set to be distributed next week.
Lazatin said each driver will receive P1,000 financial assistance. There are currently 12,000 tricycle drivers under the Federation of Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (FEDTODA); and 3,000 jeepney drivers-members of PASADA.
The tricycle and jeepney drivers are among the hardest hit members of the transport industry.
Lazatin will release the cash assistance to low-income residents of Angeles City who were most affected by the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).
Lazatin has appropriated the P15 million in the city’s Supplemental Budget No. 1 which was approved by the City Council on April 1, 2020.
