Lazatin issues certificates of lot awards to 640 families in Balubad

ANGELES CITY — Some 640 displaced families in Balubad, Barangay Anunas here received certificates of lot awards from the city government, after Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. on May 9, 2025 led the distribution at the Mayor’s Office.

The 640 displaced families will be relocated to Magalang, where they will each receive a 50-square-meter lot under the city government’s socialized housing project.

“Patuloy po nating lilingapin ang kapakanan ng mga taga-Sitio Balubad na nangangailangan ng sariling bahay,” Lazatin said.

Councilor Atty. Arvin “Pogs” Suller, Officer-in-Charge of the Angeles City Human Settlements and Urban Development Office (ACHSUD) shared that while the initial plan was to allocate 45 square meters per beneficiary, Mayor Lazatin expanded it to 50 square meters at the residents’ request.

“Sa katunayan po, the original plan was 45 square meters per household, but it was adjusted to 50 square meters upon the request of our beneficiaries to Mayor Lazatin,” Suller added.

The former Sitio Balubad residents were evicted last March 2024 from the 73-hectare land reclaimed by its owner, Clarkhills Properties Corporation.

It can be recalled that the Certificates of Land Ownership Awards of the Sitio Balubad residents were cancelled by the Department of Agrarian Reform Adjudication Board before the Clarkhills management took control of the said property.

To recall, the city government also accorded P5,000 cash assistance to each of the 640 displaced families in Sitio Balubad.
