Lazatin meets Calaguas, backs Clark railway project

ANGELES CITY — Mayor-elect Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II expressed his full support for the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) Project during a meeting with DOTr Assistant Secretary for Railways IC Calaguas.

The railway project, which will connect Clark in Pampanga to Valenzuela City in Metro Manila, is being fast-tracked under the leadership of DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon. Lazatin said the initiative is vital for improving regional connectivity and is expected to benefit the residents of Angeles City and neighboring areas through enhanced mobility, reduced traffic congestion, and new economic opportunities.

“Suportado natin ang North-South Commuter Railway Project na magdudugtong sa Clark at Valenzuela. Malaking tulong ito sa ekonomiya at sa mga mamamayan ng Angeles City,” Lazatin said.

Assistant Secretary Calaguas updated the mayor-elect on the progress of the railway construction and assured him of the agency’s commitment to timely implementation while minimizing disruptions to local communities.

Also present during the meeting were Janie Sarmiento, chief of staff to Mayor-elect Lazatin, and Reina Manuel, chief of staff to Pampanga First District Congressman-elect Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr.

The meeting underscored the strong coordination between local and national officials in pushing forward with critical infrastructure programs that align with the Marcos administration’s Build Better More agenda.
