Lazatin opens 2nd Puso Center in Pulung Cacutud

ANGELES CITY — Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. on July 14, 2022 formally opened the newly-renovated Rural Heath Unit VI in Barangay Pulung Cacutud here.

Dubbed as Puso Center, it is composed of a 24/7 birthing station and dental clinic. The center also has medicine supplies available free for the residents.

The renovated RHU is part of the promise of Mayor Lazatin to provide free and accessible health care to Angeleños.

“Pagdating po sa kalusugan, dalawa po ang hangad natin. Una, magbigay ng libreng serbisyo medikal. Ikalawa, dapat accessible ito para sa lahat,” Lazatin said.

According to City Health Officer Dr. Guevarra, the health unit had a full facelift — from the facility down to its medical equipment.

“Fully renovated po yung facility. Mas pinaganda at mas inayos din po yung mga gamit ngayon sa RHU. Napakalaki po ng pagbabago,” Dr. Guevarra said.

According to RHU Physician Dr. Cristine Joy Patio, the Puso Center will serve as the satellite and extension of Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center with assigned nurses, midwives, and medical technologists.

The newest facility can cater simple medical cases of residents from four barangays including Pulung Cacutud, Pulung Maragul, Cutud, and Sapalibutad.

“Kapag po mga cases ng cough and colds, Tuberculosis, medical consultation, pwede na po yan dito,” said Dr. Patio.

Further, all RHUs will be converted into Puso Centers, construction of which will be supervised by Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, and City Engineer Donato Dizon.

To recall, it was in February 2020 when the Puso Center was first established at the City Hall, composed of minor surgery clinic, animal bite treatment center, and dental clinic where all services are free of charge.

Also present during the blessing and opening ceremony of RHU VI Puso Center are Vice Mayor Vicenta “Vicky” Vega-Cabigting, RLMMC Chief Dr. Froilan Canlas, Nurse Supervisor Evelinda Mariano, City Tourism Officer-in-Charge Anneleen Antonio-Sugui, and Barangay Pulung Cacutud Captain Francisco Cura.
